Helping communities in need through grants
Our Grants Program provides funding to registered Canadian charities that support children and youth at risk, including those facing food insecurity.
How it works
From micro-grants of $1,500 to larger grants of $20,000 or more, our grants program aims to help charities — including local neighbourhood charities, larger charities and everything in-between — with funding that matters.

IICF Canada is committed to building a Canada where children and youth thrive, powered by the generosity of a united insurance industry. To advance this vision, IICF Canada supports registered charitable organizations across Canada that deliver impactful programs that support our focus areas.
Our focus areas
IICF Canada's focus areas include children and youth at risk, as well as food insecurity. While our Grants Program seeks to support these areas, our Special Grants offer flexibility for IICF Canada to support causes outside of our focus areas. Through our Grants Program, IICF Canada aims to be equitable while responding to the greatest needs in Canadian communities.
How grantees are identified
IICF Canada does not accept unsolicited grant applications; charity recommendations are brought forward by IICF Canada’s Board of Directors, Staff or Committee Members. Charities will be invited to submit an application for a grant. Following a rigorous assessment process, IICF Canada will award successful applicants with a grant.
How decisions are made
IICF Canada's Grants Committee reviews grant applications once annually. All applications received undergo a due diligence process to confirm that the organizations are registered Canadian charities under the Income Tax Act, are financially stable, operate programs that benefit communities located in Canada, and align with our focus areas. After careful review, the Grants Committee makes final funding recommendations, which are then presented to the IICF Canada Board of Directors for approval.
Timing & scale
Grant applications are accepted once annually at a deadline date published each year. The deadline for 2026 grant applications will be in the fall. Grant amounts will be determined based on the funding requested in the grant application, the quanitiy of applications of merit received and IICF Canada's annual grants budget, which may differ each year. Our grants.
Micro-Grants
$1,500 - $2,500 to support new charitable programs or small charities.
Community Grant
Powered by Northbridge Financial: $10,000 to support a registered charity that fosters community through its work with children and youth.
General Grants
$10,000 - $20,000 to support registered charities that work with children and youth at risk.
Special Grants
As required, for special, timely causes, such as emergency funding, that may fall out of our focus areas.
